Development of communication skills

Before we begin the conversation, we must define the primary word: communication. According to the Merriam – Webster online dictionary, communication is "a process that exchanges information through individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, or behaviors".

Note that the process is not called a process through which we provide information. It is rather the process of information exchange. Changed examples of the word gave and received information / information. One of the main reasons for failed communication is that you do not receive information. Individuals who seriously want to know how to improve their communication skills need to start listening. Listening begins with silence.

Learn the reason: Logically evaluate what you know about the controversial case: Understand the facts as you know them. When you are angry or you are afraid or sad, your feelings increase the ability to recognize truth. Make sure you have all the essential details. Remember, you are looking for facts, not feelings.

Learn to listen. You will have the opportunity to answer later. Be sure to hear the other person's point of view in time. It can not be heard while arguing. Listening is listening and understanding. Close your lips, listen. If you are not willing to allow the other person the perspective, you will not hear it.

Look into their eyes. Attention is an important part of listening. Find out their eyes, see what they feel. If you see anger, joy, fear or tears, it can help you understand. As a bonus, you are much more credible and kind if you allow your eyes.

Submit your opinion. This is not a crying contest. The volume is not translated for communication. Reasonably and logically – with a cordial, conversational tone – he presents his perspective. Remember the logic of step 1, present the whole case.

Similar to Step 2, meet the other person's eyes. Let's see how they respond to what they say.

Learn to understand. Communication has not occurred until you know the perspective of the other person and understand yours. If you are not sure what they are saying, ask them questions. Do not stop silencing until you really know what your thoughts / feelings are. If necessary, pull out the information. Remember what they saw in their eyes.

Ask me when they understand your opinion. If not, try to explain your page. Keep in mind that at this stage, the goal is to understand.

Take time to think. It is not necessary for the speech to continue. Evaluate what you've heard / seen.

Learn to find a common area. Two reasonable people must always find the right compromise if everyone understands the other situation. Compromise means that it is "reaching the road" completely, and it does not completely "let go". The only exception would be a situation where a person wants to do something that is illegal, immoral or unsafe.

First of all, if you really want to learn how to improve your communication skills, do not hurt first. As you would not communicate with a knife or weapon, do not use bad or hateful words. Instead, choose phrases that are weak and harmless. The rough, painful words do not tell the communication! Never forget: the goal is communication, not the reign.
