Communication Skills – Observation and Listening Skills

Being able to observe and gather information is probably the most important basic skill you can find out if you want to improve your social skills …

This is because it is the foundation for all communication skills. is obviously important, but if you do not know what is happening right in front of you, you have no chance of influencing it.

In today's society, we tend to become dependent on technology such as computers, mobile phones and satellite navigation that we have forgotten to use our own basic observation and listening skills …

I remember reading someone who did actually drive a car channel because they followed the instructions of the satellite navigation system. [19659002] This is clearly a rather dramatic and isolated case, but I think it's safe to infer that most people do not use their own natural observation and listening skills.

In Western culture, we do not value obse in the same way as in oriental cultures. In Japan there is a word that describes this ability . What it means is to know intuitively how a friend, business partner or family member think and feel exactly the way it looks and sounds.

The famous Japanese psychiatrist Takeo Doi tells about the history of visiting some friends in America. When he first entered the hosts, he looked at him and asked him if he wanted to eat sometime. As Japan did not ask anyone to eat, Takeo Doi was embarrassed, and though he was really hungry, he refused the offer. In Japan, you would not have to answer this question because the host would intuitively know if you are hungry as you look and hear.

It is obvious that in Western society we have to learn a great deal about our Eastern partners when it comes to the ability to get information from the outside world. We can all have fun from time to time and we can do things ourselves. When we get into contact with people, we may be inclined to make generalities or assumptions about who and what they are doing.

A few years ago I was lucky enough to listen to a Masai Masterclass performance by Chris Howe. Chris is a CEO of a company called Changemaker and specializes in educating large companies, the five most important features of the Maasai Warrior. [Chris Brown] During the discussion, Chris told a fascinating story of a time when Nairobi traveled to a place called Tassia. During his trip, he worked closely with the Maak community in the Laikipia region to learn more about his culture and lifestyle. One day, as he contacted one of Maasai warriors, he had to ask him what was the process when a buffalo was killed. The answer received was not straight forward. The Maasai warrior looked at him curiously and then began the following conversation: Maasai Warrior: "You want to kill Buffalo at what time?" Chris: "Well … during the day about 12 o'clock "Maasai Warrior: " Okay … What weather conditions? "Chris: " Well let's go in dry weather! "Maasai Warrior: " Okay … and what's the season? "Chris: " Ehm … Summer Time

About half a dozen of these questions finally came to a buffalo catching and killing process, the Maasai warrior immediately pointed out that once these conditions changed, the strategy would also change

Too often we tend to find the technique that will work every time, every time with every person. However, the reality of the situation is that such a technique does not exist. horse, that techniques and simple rules and procedures are incredibly useful, but one thing that dramatically increases the ability to communicate and talk with people, recognizes that each individual is completely unique and it is imperative that you first spend some time, to find out what the person is right at that moment.

In fact, one of the most powerful things we can do to develop communication skills, open your eyes and ears and be able to see what is happening right from the moment, then set the communication to match the at that particular moment.

So if you find that you always try to plan everything you want to say, then it's great! nice to be prepared, this will certainly help you in the interaction flow … Just remember that most of the things you really need to connect with them deeply are right in front of you and the more you open your eyes and the more you will notice your ears. ..
